State Medalists other than champions

The terms "Heavyweight" and "Unlimited" are used synomously to note wrestlers with no weight class.

Prior to 1974 there was just one classification for wrestling.  In 1974 and 1975 there were two classes (A and B).  From 1976 to present there are two classes:  AA and AAA.

Program hiatus:  varsity wrestling returned as an active program during the 1992-93 school year after a 13-year hiatus.

Carlton Haselrig college won six heavyweight titles in college at UPJ.  Three were in Division 1 and three were in Division 2.  He also represented JHS at the prestigous Dapper Dan Classic in 1984.  Haselrig wrestled independently while at JHS due to what is referenced in the above note about the program being on hiatus.

Johnstown won a district team title in 1962 and Milan Svichan was named Coach of the Year for that season in the district.

The above information was compiled thanks to two great resources in Todd Irwin's fantastic wrestling history site and the PIAA Past Champions' Archive for wrestling.
